Nine (9) contractors have been selected to participate in construction of phase two of the Pearl of the Caribbean, a nation-building integrated development. The civil & construction contracts valued at almost USD 10 million for the project ‘Alpina Square’ will be awarded accordingly to selected contractors in the tender progress outcome by DSH Caribbean Star. The closing date of the tender is on 18 January 2021. The new project is the first of several slated to commence construction works in the first quarter of 2021. No less than 19 local and international organizations officially registered their tenders to participate in the Alpina Square project in December 2020 before the selections were formalized.
This year’s tender will focus on development of a Town Center along the new road leading to Hewanorra International Airport, and among others. The development is expected to draw new and additional economic interest into Saint Lucia and provide upgradation of the South into a regional tourism, education, and commercial hub. Previously completed Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club (RSLTC) – a USD25 million horse racing track by DSH Caribbean Star also saw the participation of numerous Saint Lucian and international contractors, attributing to increase growth of employment and economic gains for the local community and region.

Background to Alpina Square
Alpina Square is an Approved Project by CIP Saint Lucia along with the Alpina Saint Lucia Hotel, and will be the second notable phase to commence. Phase 1 of the nation building development was launched on Saint Lucia’s National Day (13th December 2019) with the unveiling of RSLTC. These 2 projects are heavily supported the Government of Saint Lucia and they are promoted international by the group’s CIP arm – the Homestead Success Inc.
As part of The Alpina St. Lucia Hotel, Alpina Square is located in the southern part of the island at approx. 2km from the Hewanorra International Airport which is currently undergoing a major re-development.
Easy access to main tourist attractions along the pristine Caribbean Sea on the western coastline such as the Pitons – Saint Lucia’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic town of Soufrière, the Soufriere Sulphur Springs, the Diamond Falls and BotanicalGardens, etc. which are all approx. 30km away, places Alpina Square as one of South’s future hotspot.
